What is our policy?

For the majority of journals published by IJFCAR, we have a policy of acquiring a sole and exclusive licence for all published content, rather than asking authors to transfer ownership of their copyright. We believe this policy more carefully balances the interests of our authors with our need to maintain the viability and reputation of the journals through which our authors are accorded status, recognition and widespread distribution. In developing this policy we have been guided by the following principles:
As a publisher, we rely heavily on the good relationships we have with our authors. Having a licencing policy which enables an author to be identified as the owner of the copyright in an article is one of the key ways of demonstrating how highly we value these relationships. An exclusive licence enables the centralized and efficient management of permissions and licensing, ensuring the widest dissemination of the content through intermediaries. Exclusive rights also enable IJFCAR to take measures on behalf of our authors against infringement, inappropriate use of an article, libel or plagiarism. At the same time, by maintaining exclusive rights, in all media for all published content, we can monitor and uphold the integrity of an article once refereed and accepted for publication to be maintained.

Licence To Publish

Before we can publish a research paper or communication in an IJFCAR journal, we require the Author to complete a Licence to Publish( Copyright Agreement ). In signing this licence the Author (who is either the Copyright Owner or who is authorised to sign on behalf of the Copyright Owner, eg his/her employer) grants to the IJFCAR "the exclusive right and licence throughout the world to edit, adapt, translate, reproduce and publish the Paper, in all formats, in all media and by all means (whether now existing or in future devised)".
The IJFCAR thus acquires all practical rights to the paper, save, however, copyright. Copyright of the paper will remain with the Copyright Owner. Even though the IJFCAR has an exclusive right to publish, the IJFCAR allows the Copyright Owner to retain several practical rights to the paper (all specified in the Licence to Publish), in addition to the copyright. For example, we allow the Copyright Owner to reuse material from his/her paper (in some cases the entire paper), provided that a suitable acknowledgement is given. Any republication must be accompanied by an acknowledgement in the form specified in the Licence to Publish (this will depend on the journal).
In the Licence to Publish the Author provides the IJFCAR with the assurances that it needs to publish the material, including assurances that the work is original to the Author, that permissions have been obtained if previously published material has been included, and that the work has not already been published.
